Choices Save to MyRecipes

Postby PeelingShallots on Sat Jan 06, 2007 7:08 am

I have two choices right now I can go back to school and get an associates in managment in two semesters or I can go back to atlanta in July and get a good line cook job in a good restaurant? Will the managment degree be worth the wait?

gee I don't know Rudy, for me an education was key, I can't say the same for your situation. every person is differant.

can you afford the education? if so get it! It can't hurt.

So what are your long term goals? How does going back to school help those goals come true? How does working on the line help?

Well, if your goal is owning your own place I think you'll be glad to have that management degree.

Not only will it help you in practical matters but will also help when it comes time to ask lenders for money.

The experience is better for just cooking but if you want more than just to cook you want to think ahead now.

May I suggest that if you choose to continue school and turn down the job at the great resto you make sure to write them a very nice letter thanking them for the opportunity and expressing how grateful you would be if that same opportunity could present itself again when you are finished with your degree?
