Overseas Apprenticing\Kitchen Slaving? Save to MyRecipes

Postby Chillifactor on Tue Jan 23, 2007 6:05 am

I am currently a Culinary Student in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and I'm looking at my future.
I have been thinking lately about going to France or Belgium on an unpaid (or paid, haha) workterm after I get out of school,(in may), and was wondering if anybody in here would have any ideas, or tips, or even contacts to maybe lay some groundwork for some plans.

any help would be great.

Thanks Guys and Gals,

Craig,
I'm on my way

If you are a Canadian citizen and under age 25 I believe you can apply for a working holiday Visas in the U.K. and
get paid for it. I worked 6 mths in London at Claridge's Hotel and 3 mths at Mosimann Club. It's hard slogging but good experience.

If you can get the paid, great, and if not the experience will pay for itself oneday. Get into a decent place and go for it. If you can get into a hotel chain - top end - you might end up moving all over Europe and around the world. You will never regret the experience.

Try Hilton International or Hyatt - talk to themin Canada, and see what they can do for you.
