Advice Regarding Foreign Employment

To make things very simple:

I would like to work/apprentice in Japan. I am currently a banquet cook with previous banquet experience and while my skills are above entry level they are not very high.

This is not a want ad. I need advice.

What should I start doing to pursue working in Japan? I have done job searches through the normal job websites (monster, Hcareer, etc). with no luck. I also know no one in Japan from which to network.

I wish this was more indepth but I'm rather tired.

Zanduar, I'm not a professional chef so excuse my intrustion here, but as a long time expat, I'd suggest you google japan expat forum, and ask this question on one of the many forums. You will most likely come across folks there that are doing just what you're asking about. Each country has its own regulations with regards to obtaining work permits, so check into that also. Not to say someone may not be along here to help also.
