Changing During an Interview Save to MyRecipes

Postby garball on Thu Mar 01, 2007 3:36 pm

If you have an interview where it will be verbal before lunch and cooking afterwards, do you just wear your whites or start off in dress and change? Is this question one that can be asked of the interviewer before hand or not?
I say, the only cause of stress is behind your eyes and between your ears. It's all in how you decide to react to the situation.

Depends on the venue. I've been in these situations before.
Generally;

For a high end or corporate setting-
If you are in a non management or middle management position wear your best whites minus apron and hat during the interview.
If you are applying for a department head or executive level wear a suit and change into your whites in between.

For privately owned or informal setting-
Just wear your whites if you are strictly BOH.
If you will have some front end duties or outside PR duties wear a suit and change.
You will be always victorious if you will never enter into any contest where the issue does not wholly depend upon yourself.

I think it's safe to say you should always dress like you want the job. Wearing anything you would work in totally un acceptable. Perhaps I don't fully understand the question, but if I went to an interview, kitchen or not, I don't think looking like anything else other then a professional is acceptable.

I second the nice clothes w/ Clean jacket to swap. Nothing fancy, leave the pins medal and patches at home. Don't look to GQ . Chefs don't likes high mantainace cooks.
