Charleston,SC vs Atlanta,GA Save to MyRecipes

Postby seb on Thu Apr 19, 2007 8:56 pm

I'm thinking about giving up on DC and it's ridiculous cost of living and moving south.

The question is Charleston or Atlanta?

I'm BOH and would like to have your opinions about restaurants quality,$$$$, entertainment

Thanks

Don't think that anybody but born and bred Atlantans will argue that Charleston is mor "charming".
Charleston has several upmarket restos and plenty of entertainment in and around the city, Atlanta has lots more.
Best thing you can do is check them both out personally and see which one seems better for you as you're coming from a major sophisticated city with plenty of action.

Atl is a much larger city therefor it has alot more people making the job market bigger and it will take you longer to reach the top

CSC is a smaller market that does more seasonal buisness you can advance quicker though you may be thrown into a job position that you are not really ready for

ATL learn from established Professionals
SCS Quicker Growth at the cost of education

But the real question
wich community do you feel more at "home"

Ritz Carlton, Westin, Hilton, Marriot hotels in Atlanta, Capital City Club and Country Club, Eastlake Country Club, ect.....I could go on lots of 4 and 5 star restaurants, the largest ACF Membership in the country, guess where I suggest. Hot Lanta, if you want it, its there

I lived in Charleston for 7 years, I loved it. I moved to advance through country clubs but I hope to move back some day. Charleston had everything to offer in restaurants and a wonderful art community. Cost of living is that bad either.

I really do miss that place. Its wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate to bash my own state (Georgia) but I'm going with Charleston.

Atlanta is a major city. Charleston is not.

Big vs. small, fast vs. slow.

I, myself, vote Charleston.

If you go to Charleston, check out a place called McCrady's. A chef I used to work for loves that place. It's his favorite restaurant.
