Inside Bravo Reality TV...The Brush with Fame Save to MyRecipes

Postby cheztom on Wed Aug 08, 2007 9:09 pm

Good article. They talk about "Top Chef" starting on page three. Get a load of the picture of the head of Bravo. Yeeoow.

Warning: Very explicit language, the winner of the first season of "Project Runway" is very fond of the F-word. Guy's pretty rough around the edges. Gee, I wonder why he's not making it in the fashion world? Image

Some fave quotes...

“I tell everyone I’m not a star,” he says. “I’m a brown dwarf.”

"In fact, the contestants are left with little to do on these shows except drive each other barking mad. “Plus, they’re drinking,” says Tom Colicchio, head judge of Top Chef, as he himself simultaneously nurses a coffee and margarita outside his new restaurant, Craft Los Angeles. “Not during the challenges, usually, though no one would stop them if they did.”

"Like Michael Midgley, for example. “Mikey,” says Colicchio. “In the beginning, I was complaining, ‘What is this guy doing here?’ And the producers were saying, ‘Yeah, but wouldn’t it be great if he really could cook?’ And I’d say, ‘Yeah, it would be great. But he can’t.’ ” (Of course, then he made a great fish dish, though he was hopped up on Vicodin at the time.)"

I could not begin to describe the head of Bravo...YEOOOW doesn't even do it.....LOL. Just plain WEIRD!

Ya think? And a former porn producer to boot! Put that one on a resume. He is definitely bitter.

It's pretty cool to see what happened to some of those people. Not too many success stories.

Yeah, the only way I could describe her would be she looks like an...androgymatrix.

Yeah, kinda proves that there really are no short cuts that work. Well some. But its very, very rare.

Fame for its own sake naturally attracts ugly and insipid people.

A chef need never have fame to practice their craft.

The only excuse for attention seeking is when it is the natural state of your craft (acting or stage musician for example).

I've yet to find a chef seeking the limelight for whom I would vouch. Infantile personalities, childish insecurties, desires that lead nowhere.

I'm never suprised to see the unmighty fall.
