We have a 6 burner Viking we like a lot and would have been equally happy with a Wolf.

Commercial or home use?

Here in the states, a home range can not do more than 15,000 btu's. A commercial range will hit 25-to-30+ thousand btu's. The trick for either one - home or commercial - is the hood and exhaust, which can cost as much or more than the range itself.

So tell us a bit more about what you are after and I'm sure we can direct you...

I have researched commercial ranges here in Canada. Apparently they don't allow commercial ranges to be used for Residential. Insurance, safety etc.
I have been looking at the 48" wolf range. A saleman introduced me to the Miele Inductor cooktop. Has anyone had any experience with this type of cooktop?

I have a 36" BLue Star. It has two 33,000 BTU burners, two 18,000 BTU burners and a simmer (don't rememebr the BTUs on the simmer). Convection oven that you can turn on and off. Looks nice, similar to a professional range. It was about $6,000 or a bit less. I LOVE IT!!!

That is all.

Sandra - as a personal chef I have used every range known to man (maybe an exageration, but not by much!). Least favorites are the Viking and the Thermador Builders Grade...Vikings look good, very hard to clean GE Profile is very good, Bosch is great, Wolf is very good, BlueStar is fine.

My son and I have a small cooking school that we bought that had Viking's in it when we bought it. Two Viking 36" cooktops, double Electric Ovens and Double Gas Ovens. The electric ovens are fine, the gas ones have been replaced twice and they are supposed to bring us in another new set next month. Cannot keep them running. Do love the Viking Dishwasher...Viking Mixer is very good, but really loud.

Wolf.......best home range I've ever used (previous house), Though times came in and we had to sell the house. Bought a new house recently and was looking at the Dacor too, very nice, but money was not there for that. At a lower bracket, we bought a 36" cooktop KitchenAid Pro Series six burners, nice and easy to install, 2 simmers (don't remember BTWs), 2 18,000 BTU and 2 14,000 BTU. Honestly, the only diff. between that and a Wolf the same size besides the price is that every burner on the Wolf double as a simmer (2 settings for each), $2,800 difference! Anyways we are very happy with it. With the money saved we bought a double oven from the Architect Line of KA that is a beauty, top is convection, bottom doubles as a bread proofer.....and still money left for extra pots :-), recommended from my part.
