Could you be a little more specific with your question? Image

I'm looking for a new ground for my career, we are (wife, baby and I) going to sell our property here and look for a new place for us. I was thinking about NY because I received good references from people that have been there and, they clasify the culinary field in NY as the best place to be with the rest of the country.

Is that true?

From reading your posts you might be happier in Charleston S.C. Some incredible food is there and the place is rich with history and has a laid back southern/European feel to it. Lots of great restaurants, I sure miss living there.

Ny is great, I went to culinary school in New York in Hyde Park. We would take day trips into the city, some of my friends would even commute to work there. But it seems the opposite of what you want.

I think the best way will be to find a job there and just go myself, and find out if NY is the place that I would like for me and my family

Ontario is nice there are some beautiful remote places but there is also big cities.
The real trouble with reality is that there is no background music

How's Ontario?

I did a search a few weeks ago on chef / cook jobs in my little burb. Came up with 27 of them, some of them really nice. cost of living can be high, but I can't imagine it's higher than NYC.
Practice safe lunch. Use a condiment.

THis part of Ontario is really nice. Really nice local farms that will bring stuff to your door. We get fresh picked greens, tomatoes, potatoes all organic delivered to our door.

We even have whole hogs and lamb brought to our door right from local farms.

Chamin, I agree with Sue, nothing like NYC! but then I only have the point of view of a tourist. Have you tried contacting some of the Venezuelan chef/resto owners there? My daughter loves a place called El Cocotero, if you want I can ask her for the phone number of the owner who's a good friend of hers. Another place is the bakery on Union Sq. called Tisserie, awesome place! Same owner of St. Honore in Caracas, so if you miss cachitos de jamon, that's the place for them! LOL
